The Notorious RBG and healthcare
Ruth Bader Ginsburg was the second female justice appointed to the Supreme Court in 1993, and through the years one must admire her intelligence and tenacity no matter what your politics.
Health-wise, she is an active senior known to exercise with a trainer, lift weights, and do “crunches.”
In 1999, she was diagnosed with colon cancer, later pancreatic cancer, and recently had surgical removal of lung cancer. All are considered terminal diagnoses, and some HMOs and hospitals would have shuffled her into end-of-life hospice care.
Unfortunately, many of us have to battle health insurance companies and profiteering hospital administrators as we fight for our lives when they deny medical care or lure us onto hospice.
Rulings of the judiciary are predicated by principles of the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence that “all men are created equal.” Which of course now includes women.
We are all equally bound by common laws, and therefore should be given equal opportunity to healthcare.
The Notorious RBG would not object.
