Our greatest asset
My nephew has two children under the age of 10 who have dual citizenship with Japan. On a recent visit there, they got ill and had to see a doctor. Tests were done including blood work and scans, but neither child required hospitalization.
After this good news, my nephew asked for the medical bill: “Nothing.”
The doctor told them all children under 15 in Japan are treated for free. Why? Their physician explained children are the country’s greatest asset, and assuring their health is the basis of the nation.
Interesting.
Maybe we can learn a lesson.
