Doctor’s Diary January 8, 2020: If…

(Snippets from the frontline)

If…

If you smoke, there is a chance of getting lung cancer;
if you drink alcohol, there is a chance of developing liver disease;
if you don’t exercise, there is a chance of becoming obese;
if you inject illegal opiates, there is a chance you will die.

If you are an elder senior and hospitalized, there is a higher chance going on hospice and not surviving your hospital stay;
if you take medication, there is a higher chance you will have side effects;
if you seek medical help, there is a higher chance of going into bankruptcy;
if you are a person of color, face gender prejudice, a women, poor, or homeless, there is a higher chance your healthcare will be inferior;
if you require pain management, there is a higher chance being labelled a drug addict.

If you live in the United States, your life expectancy is decreasing, and there is a significantly higher chance your healthcare has been compromised as your legislator has sold out to industry lobbyists.

If you think something will be done about this…not a chance!
