COVID-19/BLM:  Achieving “herd immunity”

Recent COVID-19 surveys of US adults reveals 60% will take the vaccine, 10% will not, and 30% are in a gray zone.  Achieving “herd immunity” is important to open businesses and schools, and according to Dr. Anthony Fauci approximately 85% of the American population must have antibodies from vaccines or natural infection. Attaining “herd immunity” is therefore largely dependent on gray zone inoculation.

Those in the gray zone who are “vaccine hesitant” have many reasons, but at this moment, a new rationale has evolved. The two mRNA vaccines are known to be 95% effective, but those developed subsequently seem to hover at 70%.  Why would someone want to receive a vaccine seemingly less effective?   As Americans, we demand the best, especially when it’s free!

Hence, some will wait to receive the mRNA vaccine, and not take the available new vaccines increasing the number in the gray zone.

Specific data comparing these vaccines will not be available for another year.

The elusive “herd immunity” might therefore remain in the gray zone.

Your Mom looks just great. She doesn’t look like she’s 99. Love that she has her hat on.
You keep writing and I’ll keep reading.
